The PolymeReEng group is part of the Laboratory of Polymer Technology in the School of Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece.
The PolymeReEng group has access to all the necessary infrastructure to support research projects on polymerization processes as well as on polymer modification and processing. Εspecially, polymerization equipment involves: stainless steel polymerization reactors; Solid state polymerization reactor; Polymerization glass reactors equipped with proper systems for stirring and heating. Polymer modification and processing equipment involves: Grinder; Pulverizer; Mixer; Single- and twin-screw extruder; Hot press equipment; Injection molding machine. Additionally, there is the suitable equipment for polymers characterization. Indicatively: FTIR-ATR analysis, SEM analysis, Gel permeation chromatography (GPC), UV-vis analysis; Instrument for mechanical performance, Tensile testing, Impact testing; UL 94V test (flammability); Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC); Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA); Potentiometric titrator for end group analysis; Melt rheology for MFR determination; Capillary viscometers for polymer solution viscometry; Brookfield viscometry.
